As part of the Sagop Kinabuhi Program 2 (SKP2) activities and in partnership with the Archdiocesan Social Action Center (ASAC), the University of Southeastern Philippines organized and facilitated an activity dubbed as “Fun Day” held in Eden Nature Park and Resort, Toril, Davao City last January 27-28, 2017. The event was participated in by SKP2 partner agency representatives and 50 voluntary submission for reformation persons (VSRPs). The participants were housed for two days in Eden to build better camaraderie and ensure that VSRPs and partners working together in this program would be able to work harmoniously in the upcoming other activities.
SKP2 is considered as USeP’s share in the national government’s efforts towards addressing the socio-economic needs of the people who, after the Operation Tok-hang, have committed to change their lives for their families. The program partnered with 16 government and civil society organizations in Davao City and catered VSRPs from the 11 barangays in Talomo District.
The program’s next steps would involve other activities that will take the VSRPs in various skills training of their choice. They can either opt to undertake trainings under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or pursue high school education under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education (DepEd).
During the Fun Day, one VSRP gave impression as follows: “Salamat USeP ug mga partners sa inyong kaayo. Sa pagdawat sa amo ug usab bisan pa sa mga sayup nga among nabuhat kaniadto. Lipay kaayo mi bisan pa nga gimingaw mi sa among pamilya. Nag-enjoy mi maayo sa mga dula ug sa tanan natung gipangbuhat dinhi sa duha ka adlaw. Hinaut pa unta nga naa pay mahitabo susama niini sa umaabut na panahon.”
