USeP Project BISLIG commits to help tree farmers, fisher folks

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) Bislig Campus and the City Government of Bislig, through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), City Social Welfare and Development Office, and the Barangay Council of Caguyao, successfully launched Project BISLIG in Barangay Caguyao, Bislig City on March 15, 2018.

Project BISLIG is an acrostic for Barangay Integrated Strategies to Improve Land and Water Resources Management for Inclusive Growth. Its primary objective is to provide smallholder tree farmers and fisher folks in the area with a social, economic, and political empowerment platform to enhance their livelihood and wellbeing. Through the use of the science and technology interventions developed by USeP, Project BISLIG also endeavors to enhance adopters’ political capabilities and leadership and financial literacy skills.

Project BISLIG, which will run for at least three (3) years, will engage with 15 tree farmers and 15 fisher folks.
