The Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), in partnership with the Office of the Vice President for Administration (VPAd) and Gender and Development (GAD), conducted a Training-Workshop on Handling Sexual Harassment Complaints on July 16-17, 2018 at the RD Crab Shack, Prime Square Compound, F. Torres St., Davao City. Representatives from the Human Resource Management Division; Office of the President; Office of the Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Resource Management; Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension; and GAD participated in the two-day activity, which was organized to spur awareness on the rules and guidelines on handling sexual harassment cases. Aside from engaging in writeshops, the participants and the CODI members listened to discussions on Republic Act 78788 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 facilitated by Atty. Charmaine P. Valentin, Legal Counsel from the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao. Atty. Norman B. Solis, Provincial Prosecutor, also enlightened the participants on Civil Service Commission (CSC) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) guidelines on sexual harassment cases. The CODI was constituted in line with the Administrative Disciplining Rules on Sexual Harassment Cases promulgated by the CSC. With the reconstitution of the CODI this year, the training-workshop was proposed to capacitate new CODI members with knowledge on conducting preliminary, fact-finding, and formal investigations, including adjudication and amicable settlement of cases.
