USeP-CBA empowers women and children in Agdao

The Alalay sa Barangay Program (ABP), an extension program of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – College of Business Administration (CBA), empowers women in Barangay Centro, Agdao in Davao City through launching various training programs. With the support of the University Gender and Development (GAD) office, ABP introduces women to programs that improve their financial literacy and entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

In line with a Memorandum of Agreement with the Barangay Centro Council, thirty five (35) members of the Barangay Council for Women participated in training programs organized with the goal of producing more women entrepreneurs.

On December 13, 2018, a moving up ceremony for the partner-participants was held at the CBA Business Incubator to celebrate the women’s learning and growth. Rene I. Estorpe, Punong Barangay, and Dr. Danilo B. Pacoy, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, attended the event.

Aside from empowering women in the community, CBA supports children by conducting a bi-annual health and hygiene activity for kids aged 2 to 12 years.

On December 9, 2018, CBA gathered 100 children to participate in a health and hygiene lecture-demo conducted in partnership with the CBA Alumni Association, Inc., CBA Graduate School – Supreme Student Council, and USeP-MBA Circle. (RCDBadoy)
