The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – School of Applied Economics (SAEc) will conduct the first Training-Workshop on Time Series Analysis using Stata and R on April 22-26, 2019 at the University Hostel Function Hall, USeP Obrero campus.
The training, which aims to equip participants with the different methods in time series analysis using Stata and R Softwares, will provide participants with valuable data analytics hands-on experience so there are supervised computer laboratory exercises for each topic.
Interested participants from the academe, local government units, and private companies are invited to attend. Researchers who deal with time series data and individuals who want to learn Stata and R are encouraged to join the training. For registration details, contact Ms. Iris G. Salmorin at landline number (082) 227-8191 locals 250-251 or mobile number 0948 6997 459.
The activity is organized by the Research Assistance and Training in Economics and Econometrics (RATEE) Program of SAEc, in partnership with the Continuing Education Center (CEC) and Socio Economic Research and Data Analytics Center (SERDAC) in Mindanao.
What is the use of Time Series Analysis?
Time series analysis is a technique used to analyze the underlying behavior or patterns in the time series data. Patterns of previously observed data can help us identify and develop appropriate models that can be used in forecasting future values and guide policy makers in crafting research-based policies. This is also essential in assessing how series of changes in the system may affect other systems (e.g. economic systems, market trends, weather patterns, demand and supply of goods and services etc.). Through the years, time series has become an effective research tool that is highly applicable in different fields of science.
The training is highly technical but the topics and activities are designed to accommodate participants from different fields of expertise.
