USeP attends Huawei EBG Channel Partners Conference


With the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) as one of the ICT Academies in the country, some University officials headed by the President participated in the Enterprise Business Group Channel Partners Conference 2019 of Huawei Technologies Philippines Inc., May 10, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt Manila, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

With USeP as the first Huawei ICT Academy in the Philippines, President Generalao gave a short message about USeP’s experiences as the company’s partner in molding talents for the digital era.

Highlighted in her speech was USeP’s commitment in bridging the local and global ICT skills gap by preparing its students to conquer the reality and challenges beyond the walls of the University.

“Like our partners from Huawei, the University of Southeastern Philippines believes that the ICT Academy plays crucial role in bridging the local and global ICT skills gap. Addressing this gap is indeed essential especially in this digital era. This will also unlock borderless doors of employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to our students and graduates as the relevant skills and knowledge.” the USeP President said.

During the Conference, the Chief Executives of Huawei shared their company’s latest ICT ideas and products through technology updates. The Company’s technologies were also showcased through an exhibit and leading Huawei partners shared their experiences and best practices.

A significant part of the program was Huawei’s presentation of its ecosystem where ICT academies play a vital role.

Among the USeP officials who graced the event are the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva; Dean of the Institute of Computing, Dr. Tamara Cher R. Mercado; and BS Computer Science Program Head, Dr. Randy S. Gamboa.

Currently, there are four (4) ICT academies in the country, namely: USeP, Mindanao State University – Institute of Information Technology (MSU-IIT), Bulacan State University (BSU) and La Salle University.
