USeP won Best Paper Presentation and Popular Paper in Thailand


The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) attends the 8th International Symposium on Special Education (ISSED): Update Theory and Practice in Suan Dusit University, Bangkok, Thailand on September 18-20, 2019.

One of our Masters of Education in Special Education student, Ms. Vania Mercy M. Neis, won “Best Paper Presentation” for her study entitled “Perceptions on Gifted and Talented Children: Sequential Explanatory Mixed Method” together with her adviser Assistant Professor Lanie P. Vergara.

The study was conducted to investigate the perceptions on gifted and talented children. This is also aimed to describe the understanding of parents, teachers, administrators, and staff on the attitudes of gifted and talented children.

Also the USeP College of Education (CEd) won “Popular Paper” for “Hospital-Based School for Children with Cancer”.

The Hospital-Based Education Program (HBEP) for Children with Cancer at House of Hope is a product of USEP-CED research entitled “Proactive Evaluation of a Hospital-Based School in Southern Philippines Medical Center”. The HBEP was developed in recognition of the fundamental rights of children to education and in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals of the Republic of the Philippines. It aims at giving children undergoing treatment a chance to keep a sense of identity and hope for the future.
