Twenty-five students from SAEc, composed of second year and third year students, participated in the WIWAG Business Management Simulation Training Program conducted by the Education for Youth Enterprise (EYE) Foundation, Inc. and sponsored by Holcim Philippines, Inc. The week-long training was held last April 25 to 29, 2005 at the Mindanao Training Resource Center of the Davao Medical School Foundation.

| On July 9, 2005 a seminar was organized by the AECONS and the SAEc Local Council to train the officers on Parliamentary Rules and Procedures. Mr. John Carlo Velasco, internal vice president of the OCSC, served as the resource speaker. |
Nine students attended the youth forum entitled: "Y! Sa Isang Kilos, Angat Tayo (SIKAT)" organized by the Community Business Development Center (CBDC) in partnership with the National Youth Commission and supported by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC). The day-long forum was held on July 23, 2005 at the auditorium of the Davao Christian High School.

In partnership with the SAEc Graduate School , the local council and the AECONS co-sponsored a symposium entitled: "Crisis in the National Government: A Prelude for a Federal Philippines." This was held on July 23, 2005 at the USEP Social hall with Mr. Florencio Gavino III Convenor of Lihok Pideral Mindanaw, Dr. Edmundo Prantilla of SAEc and Mr. Sofronio Jucutan - former president of DCCCI as speakers. Economics students from other schools like the Ateneo de Davao University, Holy Cross of Davao College, UP-Mindanao, UM, were also invited to the symposium. |
Hesam Saumang , a 3rd year SAEc student, represented the USEP to a four day Islamic seminar organized by the Inter-School Muslim Organization (a religious organization composed of different muslim organization in universities and colleges in Davao City) that was held in Cotabato City last August 5-8, 2005. |
Alain Ralph Cortes, Bonna Ratilla, and Irish Mae Omaña represented the USEP in the 7th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition "Search for the Best College Finance Team 2005." The competition was sponsored by the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines. This is an annual competition participated by more than 40 colleges and universities in the country through the partnership of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Citibank, VISA and Infocom. The ICFC is considered as the country's most prestigious academic competition focusing on management, economics, and finance. The Elimination round was held simultaneously nationwide in different venues where the Mindanao leg was held at the Ateneo de Davao University last September 15, 2005. |
Ana Theresa Jalipa, External Vice President of the Applied Economics Society was invited as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the 13 th regular luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of East Davao. The luncheon meeting was held last September 27, 2005 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao. Miss Jalipa was asked to expound on her role as a young student in shaping the economic development of the country.

For the third straight year, the Aecons hosted and organized a two-day activity (October 2 & 3) for the Davao Federation of Economic Societies (DAFECOS). The DAFECOS brings together the economics students from different schools. Students from Ateneo de Davao University, University of Mindanao - Matina, University of Mindanao - Tagum, Holy Cross of Davao College and UP Mindanao participated in different events. SAEc came out as the overall champion.

Iazza Mae Bermil and Junnel Sevellino won 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Inter-College Statistical Quizbowl organized by the United Statistics Student Organization (USSO) last October 15, 2005. The activity is part of the celebration of the National Statistics Month. The two students and one other representative from the College of Education represented the University of Southeastern Philippines in the Regional Quizbowl held on November 15, 2005 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel.

| The Aecons won 2nd place in the Governor's cup basketball tournament. More than 12 teams from the academic clubs of the different colleges joined the tournament. |
The School of Applied Economics was awarded 4th place overall in the OClympics 2005. The Intramurals, held from December 14 17, 2005 proved that the small number of students in SAEc is not a deterrent to success.

SAEc placed 3rd in the Literary Competition, 4th in the Musical Competition, 4th in the Dance Competition, and was 5th in the Sports Competition to land 4th place overall (3rd runner-up).

| The SAEc students held a Christmas Party at the Kuya Ed's Restaurant located at Guerrero Street Davao City on December 19, 2005. The celebration also served as a Victory Party for the accomplishments and awards reaped during the Intramurals. An all-you-can-eat dinner buffet was served for the students followed by a short program to acknowledge the winners in the different events. |
The WIWAG Business Week had its second run last January 9 to 13, 2006 at the Mindanao Training Resource Center, Davao Medical School Foundation. Twenty five more students from SAEc were given the training to expose them to the different areas in business: finance, human resources, research and development, production, marketing and sales.

The Applied Economics Society (AECONS) garnered the award "Most Outstanding Academic Association of USeP for the School Year 2005 - 2006". Awarding was done during the Leaders' Congress held at the Social Hall last March 10-12, 2006 , with Prof. Romulo L. Dequito (Director, Office of Student Services) and Dr. Julieta I. Ortiz (President) as signatories.
A Plaque of Recognition was given to MR. RESTITUTO FR GABUYA for his professional assistance as Club Adviser of the AECONS.
