USeP faculty stands out abroad

Faculty members of the University of Southeastern Philippines were given the opportunity to be sent abroad for language training and presentations of their research studies on the different effective teaching methods.

Mary Grace Z. Agbas, a faculty from the College of Governance, Business and Economics (CGBE) was given a chance to have a month-long training on the Chinese Language held in Indonesia. The training which happened in December 2009 was sponsored by the Jakarta-based SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teacher and Education Personnel in Language (SEAMEO QITEP in Language).

Also, faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences were invited to present their respective research studies on the 23rd International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement 2010 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on January 3-9 with the theme “Empowering Schools for Learning: From Improvement Policy to Effective Practice”. The following were the delegates to the international congress: Dr. Marnie Grace I. Sonico who presented her research study entitled, “Multiple Intelligences, Learning Styles and Teaching Styles: Correlates to Academic Achievement of Students”; Dr. Helen B. Pondevida who presented the study entitled “The Teaching of Earth Science for Pre-Service Teachers: A Shift towards Constructivism”, and Dr. Catherine Roble and Prof. Dennis A. Alonzo who presented the study “Establishing Communicative Competence Continuum from Assessment Data: An IRT Application”.

Meanwhile, another CGBE faculty of the University, Prof. Aristeo C. Salapa was chosen to present his paper entitled “New Bantayan Barangay Development Planning: A Blended Learning Approach” during the Network of Asia Pacific Schools and Institute of Public Administration and Governance (NAPSIPAG) international conference. The said confab which had around 100 delegates from countries of Asia Pacific was held in Universiti Utara Malaysia, Alor Star, Kedah, Malaysia in December 2009.

These achievements of the University’s teaching force simply prove the competence of the USeP professors in providing the best education in Mindanao and in the entire country(USeP PIO with JFLumatod and ENRaos).
