- The course is a masters-level mathematics refresher course that is intended to provide a solid foundation for the quantitative aspects of the program and to appreciate its relevance in business. It provides a review of algebra and business mathematics applications. An introduction to basic calculus and its applications for business prepare one for the advanced course in quantitative management.
- The course is a preparation for the rigors of presentations and discussions in advance courses and may be used as a training ground to improve on one’s business communications skills. It starts off with principles of communication and proceeds to cover several means of communication as business writing, oral business presentation or through the use of ICT. It also tackles critical analysis and its application in the preparation of the Written Analysis of Case (WAC). The WAC is a basic format for writing reports regarding assigned case materials in advance courses.
- The course provides familiarity and thorough understanding of the steps in the research process as basis for the required business research paper for the course. Focus, however, will be on the different research designs (quantitative and qualitative) commonly used in business research. Course Output: Business research paper.
- The course is an introduction to accounting concepts and is a pre-requisite for non-business graduates. Learning the basics of accounting allows one to prepare financial statements and consequently be able to do basic financial analysis.
- This course covers topics considered necessary to efficiently run an enterprise’s financials. These include financial analysis, planning & forecasting, working capital management, capital budgeting analysis, investment & portfolio analysis and international finance. Course Output: Financial plan for an enterprise
- The course treats business data & information as key elements in coming-up with sound business decisions. These are also treated as possible sources for competitive and advantage. This will cover the theories and different models of information systems. Knowledge management will be covered as well as guide to generate, capture, organize, develop and share the organization’s knowledge. Course Output: Analysis or design of information systems & processes for an enterprise
- The course takes-up macroeconomics and microeconomics concepts considered to be more useful to businessmen. Macroeconomics concepts include familiarity and understanding of macroeconomic data and business cycles. On the other hand, microeconomics will tackle demand analysis & estimation, business forecasting (qualitative & quantitative methods), product & cost analysis and pricing & output decisions.
- The course is intended to provide basic and advance statistical concepts that will be of use in the design and methodology of a business research. The basic concepts include probabilities, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Advance topics will involve multivariate statistical tools. All these will require the use of available statistical software.
- The course goes through the basics of marketing and concepts that makes it indispensable in today’s global market environment. Its foundations include marketing principles and consumer behavior theory. Focus is given to marketing research (market segmentation, product development, product pricing, promotion and distribution), brand management and global marketing. It caps the course with the essentials of preparing the marketing plan. Course Output: Marketing plan or marketing research for an enterprise
- This course essentially covers topics in human resource management and organizational development. It starts with management principles (planning, leading, organizing, coordination and controlling) as foundation for the succeeding topics. Frameworks for analysis are taken-up for evaluating organizational culture & organizational design and for handling organizational change. The course caps with preparing a human resources development plan. Course Output: Organizational analysis or design for an enterprise.
- This course makes use of most of the quantitative tools learned in Quantitative Methods for Management in coming-up with a wide array of decisions involving key elements of operations in an enterprise. Topics covered include project management, process management (product, process and facilities design and location planning) and supply chain management. Focus is given to supply chain management to tackle topics on materials requirements planning, inventory management, logistics management and strategies. Additional quantitative tools are taken-up in quality management (TQM tools, statistical process control & six sigma). Course Output: Evaluation of operations of an enterprise
- This course provides more advance mathematical tools that may be used in most of the core courses. It covers decision theory (under certainty, risk and certainty), mathematical programming (linear, integer, non-linear & goal programming; transportation and assignment models) and several production and operations management tools (inventory models, network models, waiting line models, cost-volume-profit analysis, simulation & sensitivity analysis and measuring productivity & efficiency). Course Output: A paper requiring the application of quantitative tools.
- This course caps all the courses in the e-MBA program. It covers the three phases of strategic planning: (1) strategy formulation will cover topics on macroenvironment analysis, microenvironment analysis and some industry analysis tools; (2) strategy implementation tackles corporate governance, building organization capabilities & relationships, managing corporate culture, managing change and some tools for communicating the plan; and, (3) strategy evaluation & control will contain performance evaluation tools.
