{"id":1896,"date":"2023-11-23T11:57:29","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T11:57:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.usep.edu.ph\/cas\/?p=1896"},"modified":"2024-10-16T00:08:52","modified_gmt":"2024-10-16T00:08:52","slug":"icas-2023-highlights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.usep.edu.ph\/cas\/icas-2023-highlights\/","title":{"rendered":"ICAS 2023 Highlights"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"xdj266r x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The International Conference on Arts and Sciences (ICAS) 2023 took off with a remarkable exchange of knowledge and experience as our participating scholars delve deeper into the breathtaking world of Mathematics, Statistics, and Natural Sciences!<\/div>\n<p>Researchers from all over the Philippines and around the world gathered to learn, engage, and be inspired with the invaluable information shared by the conference\u2019s distinguished speakers for Day 1, November 23, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Masters of ceremony Mr. Khmer Griffin Alonzo and Ms. Sheila Grace Europa welcomed the crowd and announced the commencement of the 2-day conference, followed by the opening remarks given by Dr. Reynaldo M. Nogodula, Director of the University\u2019s International Affairs Division. The University President, Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., also graced the event with his inspirational message.<\/p>\n<p>Student and faculty researchers marveled at such academically delightful talks by Dr. Walter Rainer Roth, Professor of Mathematics from Germany, with his topic \u201cDuality &#8211; Why Mathematicians Like Mirrors?\u201d, and the topic \u201cManufacturing Challenges for Biologics Production in Japan\u201d by Dr. Takeshi Omasa, Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>With moderators Dr. Marnie Grace I. Sonico (Natural Sciences) and Asst. Prof. Anthony F. Capili (Mathematics and Statistics), the afternoon session comprised of research presentations given by scholars from different academic institutions, focusing on the disciplines of Mathematics, Statistics, and Natural Sciences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"xdj266r x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs x126k92a\">\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The International Conference on Arts and Sciences (ICAS) 2023 continues to inspire established and young researchers as the conference brimmed with engaging, academic dialogues centering on Language, Literature, and Social Sciences.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"xdj266r x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs x126k92a\">\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The conference opened with a recap of Day 1, delivered by Ms. Jenifer R. Tuban, followed by a video presentation of the highlights of ICAS 2022. Dr. Eleonor T. Guden, Research Director of the University, graced the conference with a message- challenging researchers of arts and sciences to go above and beyond in order to effectively contribute to the country and the world\u2019s nation-building initiatives.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">With the topic \u201cLiterature in ESL\/EFL Classrooms: Unlocking Worlds-Language and Beyond\u201d, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shireena Basree Abdul Rahman, of the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia, shared her riveting ideas on marrying arts and the sciences. The following talk titled \u201cSocial Innovation \u2013 Creativity, Innovation, &amp; Entrepreneurship\u201d was given by Ms. NG Aik Min of Lingnan University, Hong Kong, who stirred the interest of researchers across the discipline of Social Science. The audience enthusiastically engaged in scholarly conversations during the open forum.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Moderators Ms. Jenifer R. Tuban and Assoc. Prof. Luden L. Baterina ran the parallel sessions in the afternoon as faculty and student researchers, as well researching scholars, presented their studies on Language, Literature, and Social Sciences, delving into topics such as folk literature, politics and mass media, education, lived experiences of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), public administration, and worldviews.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The closing remarks of Dr. Eveyth P. Deligero, Dean of CAS, marked the end of the conference. Yet, for our researcher participants, this is only the beginning of a life-long journey of public service towards fruitful nation-building through research and innovation.
