The SPJRD September 2024 issue also has discourse about the Tausug people and one of their unique traditions in the study \u201cMaligay: An Iconic Tausug Traditional Token for Pagtammat in the Sulu Archipelago,\u201d the seventh article in this issue. Focusing on the profound significance of the Maligay Pagtammat ceremony, this tradition celebrates the completion of Quranic studies, where families present a special wooden food cart, known as Maligay, as a token of achievement and joy.<\/h5>\n
Eddie M. Ladja and Cherry Mae L. Ladja from the Western Mindanao State University gave prominence to how the ceremony marks educational milestones and reinforces community bonds and cultural identity. Detailed observations and interviews conducted in the municipalities of Parang, Panglima Estino, and Panamao reveal the deep-rooted values of kinship and mutual support that characterize Tausug society.<\/h5>\n
Maligay Pagtammat ceremony serves as a vibrant expression of Tausug heritage, emphasizing the importance of education, family, and tradition in shaping the lives of the community.<\/h5>\n
