In setting the roadmap toward attaining the action plan, the Institute of Languages and Creative Arts (ILCA) conducted Goal Setting 2023-2024: A Workshop, at the University Hostel on February 28, 2023.<\/p>\n
ILCA Director, Sajed S. Ingilan, spearheaded the workshop presenting the plans, particularly with offering services related to language courses and creating literary works for internal and external clientele as ILCA works with income-generation projects (IGPs).<\/p>\n
The activity was joined by Dr. Daisy T. Besing, Director of the Institutional Planning Division (IPD), to assess the alignment of ILCA’s plan with the university’s goals by presenting the USeP 5-year Strategic Plan 2022-2027. Moreover, Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., the Vice President for Academic Affairs, also attended to provide remarks and suggestions during the discussion.<\/p>\n
Several proposals and strategies were raised to identify opportunities to benefit the university and its potential clients. The workshop also helped to analyze the plan’s strengths, weaknesses, likely opportunities, and underlying threats to the operations.<\/p>\n
In addition, Dr. Rodney C. Jubilado, Chair of the Department of Languages of the University of Hawaii at Hilo in the USA, shared his recommendations for ILCA to uphold internationalization, particularly through a partnership with his affiliated university. Dr. Jubilado has concurred to co-work with ILCA as a consultant in future endeavors.<\/p>\n
Among the key participants contributing to the in-depth planning were Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva, Director of the Curriculum and Instruction Office (CIO); Mr. Francis N. Reginio, Deputy Director of the Publication Unit; Dr. Velouna C. Perez, Deputy Director of the Continuing Education Center (CEC); and Dr. Eveyth P. Deligero, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and several CAS program heads.<\/p>\n
The workshop concluded by having their existing concerns addressed in the two-year ILCA Operational Plan. ILCA is expected to provide services on the production of instructional materials (IMs) for language and cultural studies and the publication of creative works.<\/p>\n
