CIC, DepEd hold pilot test-run on records management system for high schools

The Department of Education Davao City Division (Dep-Ed-DCD) recognizes that public secondary schools are in need of a system that efficiently manages student data and improves the efficiency of the delivery of student services.

In response to this, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) Extension Division through the College of Information and Computing (CIC) and Department of Education (DepEd) developed a High School Student Records Management System (HiSRMS) capable of handling students’ and teachers’ basic profiles, grade encoding, high school curriculum, and other school-related documents and reports. The HiSRMS was developed and enhanced by students of CIC (BSIT and MSLIS) as part of their on-the-job training under the College last February 2019.

Now that the said extension project has begun its implementation, a pilot test-run was conducted in Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS), Toril, Davao City, one of the public secondary schools supervised by DepEd-DCD, last February 14, 2020. This was done in order to evaluate the feasibility of the information system as well as to find points for improvement, in terms of its performance, before the full-scale implementation of the said system.

Subsequently, a massive training of the CBNHS teachers for the adoption of the system in their schools will be conducted to ensure the efficiency of the project. Apart from CBNHS, USeP is also looking forward for HiSRMS to be implemented in other schools under DepEd-DCD.
