Student leaders oriented on USeP policies and processes

To harmonize the student body efforts and programs with the University’s vision and goals, the Public Affairs Division (PAD) in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), Office of Legal Affairs- University Data Privacy Office (OLA-UDPO) and Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division (KTTD) spearheaded an orientation on University policies and processes relevant to student activities on February 14, 2023, at the University Social Hall, USeP- Obrero Campus.

Student leaders along with their advisers took part in the said orientation with others attending via Zoom meetings.
USeP Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. delivered the inspirational message on behalf of University President Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao during the orientation.

“This semester, after careful consideration, the University implemented a full onsite class for undergraduate programs and a blended learning modality for our graduate programs. Thus, it is our duty as administrators, student leaders, and advisers to ensure that specific policies of the University are strictly followed to ensure the success of the planned programs, activities, and projects and so that all that is involved can fully enjoy the event,” said Dr. Gabales. “Because as a general rule, no one is excused from complying with the law and the University policies,” he emphasized.

On a personal note, Dr. Gabales highlighted the importance of cascading the University policies to the students starting with its leaders and advisers. He recalled the significance of following such processes to safeguard the participants and the University community, as students are the ‘primary customer or stakeholder’ of the University.

Dr. Jose Alther M. Rivera, OSAS Director, introduced the processes for on- and off-campus program/activity/project approval. Mr. Karlo Martin C. Caramugan, OLA-UDPO Deputy Director, discussed the provisions of the Data Privacy Act and its complementing University policies. Dr. Philip B. Despares, KTTD- Technology Transfer Unit (TTU) Deputy Director, talked about the University Policy on the Use of USeP Trademarks as well as student merchandising, and Dr. Rosfe Corlae D. Badoy, PAD Director, tackled the PAD forms and processes concerning publicity requests, social media creation, and technical assistance.
