Onward to a successful and fulfilling year ahead: USeP welcomes students back for first day of classes

Excitement and anticipation filled the community across campuses as the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) opened its doors for the first day of classes of the Academic Year 2023-2024 on August 22, 2023.

USeP campuses have been busy on its preparation for the conduct of classes for the first semester of the academic year. Still, the first day of class is even more special for the incoming freshies for both undergraduate and graduate programs.

To aid in the students’ adjustment, the first week of class will be riddled with general orientations organized by the respective colleges and schools.

University President, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, represented by the Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Tamara Cher R. Mercado, officially opened the classes and welcomed the new and returning students of USeP-Obrero Campus during the flag-raising ceremony.

Dr. Mercado remarked that the University President is jubilant to see new faces of students aspiring to build their dreams with the University.

“To our first-year students, you’ve embarked on an exciting journey of discovery. The path may seem uncharted but within the walls of the University lies a canvas for your growth. Face challenges with courage and approach the unfamiliar with curiosity. Your presence here testifies to your dedication and potential,” Dr. Mercado quoted Dr. Generalao.

The President also encouraged the returning students to be a living embodiment of the University’s core values as the incoming students bear witness to what the USeP community is all about.

“To our returning scholars, embodying the University’s core values of collaboration, accountability, resilience, excellence, and being service-oriented makes you a source of inspiration to our first-year students and transferees. Be leaders of integrity and advocates of positive change,” she added.

In closing, Pres. Generalao also assured the students of the University’s excitement for the journey of the community and the possibilities that lie ahead for USeP. “I want to wish you a successful and fulfilling year ahead. Remember, the journey to success is not always easy. But with determination, hard work, and the support of your fellow students and faculty members, you can achieve anything you set your mind to,” she said.

Pres. Generalao, together with Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, and Chancellor Dr. Cesar A. Limbaga, Jr., welcomed the students from Tagum-Mabini Campus; while College of Development Management Dean, Dr. Aristeo C. Salapa, opened the first day of class at the USeP-Mintal Campus.

Moreover, the Malabog Extension Campus faculty, staff, and students also started this academic year with a flag-raising ceremony.
