USeP opens UGCC commercial stalls to public; aims to support local biz, SMEs

In the endeavor to diversify revenue sources of the University in pursuit to becoming a hub for economic activity, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) officially launches the newly renovated commercial stalls open for rental located at the University Gymnasium and Cultural Center (UGCC), USeP-Obrero Campus, Davao City on September 7, 2023.

Spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Administration (OVPAd) through the Resource Management Division (RMD), the launching and the opening the commercial stalls for rent to the public aligns with the University’s financial and community-driven objectives. The initiative does not only generate additional income for USeP but also support local businesses, particularly the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

According the Finance Division (FD), the leasing of commercial stalls as an income generating venture holds significant potential for the University to align with the government’s campaign for self-reliance and sustainability. FD further stressed that the Rents and Leases projects shared 26% of the total gross receipts of the University- showcasing the financial viability and the University’s ability to create revenue streams beyond traditional sources.

University President, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, together with VPAd Dr. Maria Luisa B. Faunillan, led the ribbon cutting ceremony witnessed by several University officials and personnel.

With the stalls in a prime and auspicious location within the University, the said initiative positions the project to spur economic activities for the University community and its expected occupants.
