USeP celebrates leadership milestone: Dr. Gabales and Dr. Gervacio graduate from CHED-GALP

In a significant achievement for the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), two of its top officials, Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., University President, and Dr. Joan D. Gervacio, Secretary of the University and the Board of Regents, graduated from the esteemed Commission on Higher Education – Global Academic Leadership Program (CHED-GALP). The graduation ceremony happened on November 29, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Campus in Makati City.

This prestigious event marks the culmination of a rigorous leadership journey, underscoring USeP’s commitment to academic excellence and visionary leadership in higher education. The CHED-GALP, a collaborative initiative between CHED and AIM, is designed to empower State Universities and Colleges (SUC) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUC) presidents with transformative leadership skills, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st-century educational landscape.

Dr. Gabales and Dr. Gervacio’s participation in this program was made possible through the nomination of USeP’s Board Chair and CHED Commissioner, Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag. Their involvement in the program aligns with USeP’s strategic vision to foster innovative, globally informed, and locally responsive leadership. Through the CHED-GALP, they have gained valuable insights into leading SMART universities, strategic thinking, and collaborative governance.

Joining them in this achievement are other SUC officials from the Davao Region, like Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, Davao del Norte State College President, and Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, Davao del Sur State College President, showcasing the region’s dedication to enhancing educational leadership. The program, supported by a scholarship grant from CHED under Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III, emphasizes co-creating innovative solutions, improving decision-making processes, and strengthening collaborative governance.

The graduation ceremony was a recognition of individual achievements and a testament to USeP’s ongoing pursuit of excellence in education. Dr. Gabales and Dr. Gervacio’s enriched leadership skills are set to propel USeP toward new heights in academia, research, and community engagement, reinforcing its role as a pivotal institution in the Philippine educational system.

As the University of Southeastern Philippines celebrates this momentous occasion, it reaffirms its commitment to nurturing leaders equipped to navigate the complexities of modern education and drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
