The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) Obrero Campus welcomed first-year and continuing students to Academic Year 2025–2026 through its University Convocation and Orientation held on August 20, 2025, at the University Gymnasium and Cultural Center (UGCC), Obrero Campus.
The half-day program served as both a formal introduction to the University and a platform to orient students on essential services, offices, and advocacies that support their academic journey. The afternoon sessions highlighted college-based orientations, giving students a closer look at their academic communities.
Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva, opened the convocation by congratulating the students on becoming part of the University and reminding them of their vital role as Iskolars ng Bayan.
In his message, University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., warmly welcomed both first-year and continuing students, describing the convocation as their “formal entry” into the USeP community.
Speaking to the new Iskolar ng Bayan, Dr. Gabales underscored that education at USeP is both a privilege and a responsibility.
“Thousands dreamed of joining this University, but only a chosen number succeeded. This is a privilege that carries with it a great responsibility,” he said. “Your education is not only for yourselves but also for the nation. The taxes of every Filipino—from the farmer who tills the land, the vendor who braves the sun, and the teacher who molds the next generation, contribute to your future.”
Dr. Gabales emphasized that USeP seeks to develop not just professionals, but citizens and leaders who will transform communities. “This is the greater purpose of your education. USeP does not only prepare you for a profession, but it also prepares you for a life of service.”
The orientation proper featured presentations from key University offices and divisions, including the Office of the University Registrar, Office of Student Affairs and Services, Gender and Development Office, Health Services Division, Career and Alumni Center, University Learning and Resource Center, and Systems and Data Management Division.
The morning program also highlighted USeP’s internationalization efforts through the International Affairs Division, as well as the services from the Public Affairs Division, Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division, and Office of the Secretary of the University-University Records Office.
Moreover, students were introduced to advocacy programs, including the Land Transportation Office’s S.A.F.E. (Strengthening Advocacy for Future Educators and Drivers) Schools Initiative, PhilHealth Talk, and ‘Safeguarding Learning Spaces’ led by Joy James A. Saguino.
