USeP attends CDIO Forum in Singapore

“If we are training our students to become swimmers, then, provide them with a swimming pool.”

That is how Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), described the essence of the ongoing Temasek Foundation Conceive-Design-Implement and Operate (CDIO) Forum on Education for Sustainable Development 2022, from October 10-14, 2022, hosted by the Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Singapore.

The said five-day CDIO Forum serves as an avenue for world education leaders to share knowledge and best practices for innovative teaching and learning approaches ingrained in the curriculum, significant to the sustainable development of education.

With about 100 leaders, specialist educators, and staff developers from institutions of higher learning in Asia expected to participate, the forum features keynote speeches, sharing sessions and workshops, and visits to the host institution’s facilities.

Among the highlights of the program is the presentation of the CDIO Framework aiming to transform instruction and laboratories into industry-like facilities to equip graduates with globalized, industry-ready knowledge skills.

Meanwhile, the Singapore Polytechnic has expressed strong interest to collaborate with USeP and explore various programs, such as student and faculty exchanges, internship abroad programs, and other internationalization endeavors.
