The Research Division- Publication Unit organized its first-ever Southeastern Philippines Journal of Research and Development (SPJRD) Talks on August 27, 2021, via Zoom.
SPJRD Talks is a monthly scholars’ forum for research dissemination, interaction, and convergence aiming at bridging these gaps by providing a platform where the researchers can freely discuss their studies and answer questions from the participants.
USeP Publication Unit invited Dr. Ravindra Joshi, a senior consultant of the Department of Agriculture (DA)- Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) and Dr. Samuel Herbert T. Mamora, an associate professor of Biology from the University, as the inaugural resource speakers to talk about their respective research.

Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva, University Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension opened the said event with congratulatory remarks. According to Dr. Villanueva, the SPJRD Talks is a manifestation of the USeP’s commitment to strengthening the research culture of the University and of the region.
“I hope that our conversation here will not only facilitate and enlarge our consciousness of our region’s uniquely rich resources,” said Associate Professor Sajed Ingilan, SPJRD Editor-in-Chief, in his closing remarks. Mr. Ingilan also hoped that this type of platform for research will contribute to the creation of projects geared towards ‘socio-economic’ development of Mindanao and of the country, as well.
The SPJRD Talks is in line with the efforts of the University on becoming a premier Research University in the ASEAN.
