USeP holds IEC design, drone training for PAD coordinators

As the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) continues to build its institutional identity, thereby developing its brand that aims to attain and reflect its vision, mission, and goals, the University, through the Public Affairs Division, held a two-day training workshop on designing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and operating a drone on October 26-27, 2023 at the USeP Obrero Campus, Davao City.

Attended by PAD Coordinators of the respective academic units across the University, the workshop aims to streamline consistent IEC materials that effectively shape perception, build trust, and convey cohesive institutional identity to the USeP community and its stakeholders, thus contributing to strengthening the branding of the University.

Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., USeP Vice President for Academic Affairs, gave an inspiring message to the training attendees. He remarked how vital is the role of PAD and its Coordinators in expanding the reach of the University- as USeP continues to touch communities in its endeavor to realize its vision of becoming an agent of transformative change in society.

He also stressed the importance of a unified and responsive information dissemination structure across USeP campuses to better serve the University clients with reliable, up-to-date, and relevant information.

PAD Director Dr. Rosfe Corlae D. Badoy expressed her excitement for the training as she explained the event’s rationale. She also anticipated that the University Academic Units would have a cohesive template for publicity postings.

Mr. Armando Jr. S. Adlawan, Information Officer II, served as the resource person and facilitator for the topics related to conceptualizing and designing IEC materials concerning the University branding practices.

Meanwhile, Ms. Virgithe Angelique C. Alfaro, Information Officer I, was the resource speaker and facilitator for drone maneuvering and operation, discussing navigation, licensing protocols, and data collection and retrieval.

PAD Coordinators experienced actual piloting of a drone and experimenting with its navigation options.

The training workshop ended with the fourth quarterly meeting of PAD, in which the recent victories and accomplishments of the Division were celebrated, issues and concerns were addressed, and plans for the remaining months of the year were discussed.
