The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) welcomed students and distinguished guests to the three-day Space Science and Technology Applications (SSTA) Exhibit 2025 held at the Social Hall of the USeP Obrero Campus.
Running from March 25 to 27, 2025, the exhibit was organized through the collaboration of the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) with the Department of Science and Technology Region XI (DOST XI) and USeP to showcase advancements in space science and technology and inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts.
Inspiring messages from representatives of PhilSA, DOST XI, the City Government of Davao, and USeP that highlight the crucial role of space science in shaping the future commenced the event. A ceremonial ribbon-cutting, led by USeP President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., alongside key University officials and esteemed guests, officially opened the exhibit.
Moreover, the exhibit showcased interactive displays and technology demonstrations, offering attendees a hands-on experience with the latest developments in space research.
In his speech, President Gabales highlighted the importance of space research in the advancement of education. He took pride in sharing the achievement of Marielle Magbanua-Gregorio, a USeP graduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering, who played a key role in the development of Maya-3 and Maya-4, the first Philippine university-built satellites launched to the International Space Station on August 28, 2021. She was one of the eight engineers under the Stamina for Space program, contributing to the STeP-UP Project focused on space technology proliferation through university partnerships.
“When we received the invitation to be part of this exhibit, I was excited because I know how valuable this is, especially for our high school students who aspire to engage in space science and research,” Dr. Gabales remarked.
Participants from various junior and senior high schools, including Doña Carmen Deñia National High School, Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, Philippine Academy of Sakya Davao Inc., and Davao City National High School, eagerly attended the exhibit, gaining insights into the exciting world of space science.
