The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) hosted the official signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges – Region XI (PASUC XI) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) on May 29, 2025 at the Accreditation Center, TLE Building, USeP Obrero Campus, Davao City.
The MOA represents a shared commitment to cultivate a culture of volunteerism, service, and civic engagement within the university community. This partnership between PNVSCA and PASUC XI aims to mainstream volunteerism across academic institutions by actively engaging academic and non-academic personnel, students, and alumni.
Leading the MOA signatories for PASUC XI was Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, Chair of PASUC XI and President of Davao del Norte State College. She was joined by Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay, President of Davao de Oro State College; Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, President of Davao del Sur State College; Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, President of Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology; Dr. Roy G. Ponce, President of Davao Oriental State College; and Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., President of USeP.
In their respective messages, Dr. Sorrosa and Dr. Gabales emphasized the importance of synergy among PASUC XI member institutions, highlighting their collaborative efforts and shared initiatives in advancing academic and community development.
Representing PNVSCA was Executive Director Donald James D. Gawe, who conveyed his optimism for the partnership’s sustainability and long-term impact, emphasizing its meaningful contribution to societal development and national progress.
Also in attendance were Chief Economic Development Specialist Lalaine M. Sajelan of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development XI, and Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XI. Dr. Casquejo reaffirmed CHED’s full support for the volunteerism initiative and encouraged greater participation from local colleges and private academic institutions across the region.
The MOA signing was also witnessed by officials from PASUC XI member universities, underscoring the institutional support for this partnership.
