Davao City, September 4, 2023 – Dr. Achmad Djatmiko, MA, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) in Davao City, received an esteemed delegation from the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) on Monday. The meeting, held at the KJRI Davao City office, was also attended by Mrs. Yanti Silalahi, who serves as the Consul of Information, Social, and Cultural Affairs alongside the USeP delegation led by Mr. Sajed S. Ingilan, Director of the Institute of Languages and Creative Arts at USeP. The primary purpose of this encounter was to explore potential collaborations and partnerships between KJRI Davao City and USeP.

During the meeting, both parties reached several key agreements, including the facilitation of cooperation between USeP and Indonesian universities, the establishment of Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) classes, plans for a cultural exchange workshop program between Indonesia and Mindanao, community development initiatives for the Indonesian citizen in Mindanao, and a request for expert assistance in conducting peer reviews of scholarly publications managed by USeP. Notably, Consul General Djatmiko enthusiastically accepted the direct offer to become an expert partner for peer reviewing academic journals, focusing on the field of international relations.

This meeting reflects a significant step towards strengthening educational and cultural ties between Indonesia and the Philippines. The collaborative initiatives discussed are poised to contribute positively to the development of both nations, fostering mutual understanding and enhancing academic opportunities for students and scholars. As these agreements are put into action, they are expected to yield fruitful results for education and bilateral relations.
