The USeP Institute of Languages and Creative Arts continues to expand its horizons by enhancing language course offerings. It offers Philippine language courses, one of which is Cebuano. This initiative supports ILCAโs passion for addressing language barriers.
On February 11 2025, ILCA warmly welcomed Mason Malney and Zach Pelham, alumni from Kansas State University, who have been residing in Davao City for several months. Eager to deepen their understanding of Mindanaoโs rich cultural diversity, they are set to enroll in ILCAโs Cebuano language course.
Mason conveyed during a discussion with the ILCA’s team that their review of the organization’s website revealed a comprehensive network of international partnerships. โWe have gone through your website, and we saw you have international partnerships. Thatโs why I think ILCA is the best place for us to learn Cebuano and Davaoโs culture,โ he stated.
Learning Cebuano at USeP ILCA involves more than just studying the languages; it also provides a chance for them to immerse themselves in the studentsโ community. By interacting with the University students, they will be able to acquire first-hand exposure to the language that will establish their connection to Davaoeรฑos.
In a meeting with AB English Language Program Head Assoc. Prof. Sajed Ingilan, Mason and Zach also expressed keen interest in exploring peoplesโ lives in Mindanao. They believe that USeP is a safe place for them to learn Cebuano and its speaker’s culture.
Recognized for its strong partnership with international linkages, ILCA is proud and happy to welcome international students willing to learn Philippine languages and culture. ILCAโs mandates support this, and its objective is to help individuals appreciate the diverse cultural beliefs and traditions of people from different places.
The engagement and enrollment of the American students only show how dedicated ILCA is to developing international partnerships and providing world-class education. In accordance with the University’s strategic plan, ILCA is dedicated to promoting knowledge creation and creative expression while continuously expanding its international partnerships. The Institute is excited to welcome more students who are eager to learn Cebuano and other Philippine languages, along with its culture and traditions.
