USeP celebrates family day 2025 by honoring heroism in every public servant

Every member of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) family embodies the spirit of a true hero: brave, selfless, and ready to contribute to the community. This year’s University-wide Family Day, held on September 19, 2025, at the USeP Tagum-Mabini Campus (TMC), Mabini Unit, celebrated that very essence as the University honored the “Pinoy Superhero” within its dedicated personnel.

In line with the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) themed “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod-Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan”, the Family Day gathered University personnel from all campuses for a day of camaraderie, wellness, and unity.

USeP President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. officially opened the event with inspiring remarks, underscoring the University’s commitment to nurturing not only professional growth but also personal well-being.

“This celebration highlights our unity as one academic community: bound by service, excellence, and the care we extend to one another as one USeP family,” Dr. Gabales said. He also described public servants as partners in nation-building who carry the noble responsibility of service with integrity and passion.

The President further encouraged everyone to embrace the day as an opportunity to rest, recharge, and strengthen relationships. “While our days are often filled with work, Family Day reminds us to pause, to rest, and to enjoy. A little sunshine and recreation do wonders for our health and well-being. I encourage you to join the games and activities, even if they test your endurance. You may also discover new friends and deepen bonds with colleagues.”

The program featured team-building games designed to promote collaboration and wellness. Earlier in the day, volunteers also participated in a tree planting activity, which formed part of the University’s continuing commitment to environmental stewardship.

To ensure full participation, the University implemented asynchronous classes for the day, with a skeleton workforce assigned to essential tasks. All personnel, including plantilla, coterminous, casual, job order, contract of service, and outsourced staff, were enjoined to take part in the celebration.

Among the eight pinoy superhero teams, the Team Lastikman, led by Dr. Jennifer E. Hinlo, snatched the overall championship.

In her closing remarks, USeP TMC Chancellor Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva thanked the event organizers and attendees for their support and participation in the various activities lined up for the celebration. She emphasized that unity remains vital to the University’s growth, noting that despite coming from different campuses and backgrounds, the USeP community shares a common purpose.

The Family Day, organized by the Human Resource Management Division and the Public Affairs Division in partnership with USeP TMC, served as a venue for employees to pause from their regular duties, connect with colleagues, and reaffirm their shared responsibility as public service providers.
