USeP participates in SALIKSync Conference to advance innovation, technology transfer

With universities playing an increasingly central role in shaping local innovation ecosystems, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) participated in SALIKSync: 1st National Impact Conference in Bacolod City on November 6, 2025, to engage with national partners on collaborative approaches to technology transfer and the market deployment of research outputs.

Representing USeP on behalf of President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales Jr. was Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Roger C. Montepio. Dr. Montepio was joined by Engr. Francis Louise C. Yap, Officer-in-Charge of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division; Engr. Michael V. Machica, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property and Management Unit; and Engr. Elpedio M. Corbeta Jr. of the AGILab Technology Business Incubation Unit.

A key segment of the conference featured the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding among grantees of the Innovation, Market Promotion of Academic Commercial Technologies (IMPACT) Program of DOST-PCIEERD, alongside the introduction of the IMPACT NXT Projects, a next-stage initiative supporting the advancement and scaling of market-ready research outputs. This signaled strengthened alignment among participating universities and agencies in accelerating technology transfer and commercialization efforts across the country.

USeP’s engagement in the IMPACT Program advances the University’s initiatives in research translation, innovation-driven entrepreneurship, and the institutionalization of technology transfer systems. Through this program, USeP continues to build pathways for academic research outputs to progress into practical solutions with applications across communities and industries.

The IMPACT NXT initiative aims to broaden regional innovation linkages and expand collaboration among research institutions, government agencies, and industry partners. The conference gathered participants from the Department of Science and Technology, DOST-PCIEERD, the Association of Technology Transfer Professionals of the Philippines, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and various academic and research institutions.

SALIKSync marked a defining moment in the country’s innovation landscape —synchronizing efforts, insights, and actions toward building a stronger national impact network for technology and innovation.
