USeP celebrates Internationalization Learning Day

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), serving as a fortress of excellence for many decades, is celebrating its 40th Founding Anniversary this week.

To make the Ruby Anniversary of the University more significant, the Office of Public and International Affairs, led by its Director, Dr. Genna J. Carmelo, organized the first Internationalization Learning Day for Doctor of Education (EDD) and Master of Education (MEd) students who joined the International Educational Trip (IET) in Thailand and Malaysia, and undergraduate students who participated in the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) in China and Vietnam.

Held on December 11, 2018 at the USeP Obrero Social Hall, the event also spurred awareness on student mobility opportunities for first years and student leaders from all USeP campuses. Through the efforts of the OPIA, USeP has forged linkages with international universities, an initiative that is consistent with its goal to produce ASEAN competitive graduates and professionals.

Last September, the first batch of selected Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students from the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences of USeP Tagum-Mabini Campus journeyed to Israel for a one-year internship program.

In January 2019, three Institute of Computing (IC) students will complete their five-month internship in China, an opportunity made possible through the Semester Abroad program of OPIA.

In her closing message, Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), thanked OPIA and the students for catapulting USeP into international prominence. She expressed her gratitude to OPIA for giving the students opportunities for advancement through academic exchanges, educational trips, semester abroad program, and internship abroad programs.

Ms. Ma. Luisa B. Faunillan, Vice President for Administration (VPAd), also joined Dr. Villanueva in the activity.
