November 19, 2019 – A one-day Writeshop on Journal Publication in the College of Engineering (COE) of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) is implemented by USeP’s Research Development and Extension Division. This activity is held at the University Hostel, Training Hall.
This writeshop is participated by the faculty, staff and student leaders from the Engineering Department.
Dr. Angel V. de Vera welcomed the participants; Mr. Philip B. Despares, Research Head, gave the rationale and objectives of the activity; and Ms. Anne Marie Jennifer Eligio, Publication Director, introduced the Resource Speaker, Dr. Michael Angelo B. Promentilla.
The writeshop is composed of two parts: the Lecture/Discussion part and the Writeshop proper.
In Mr. Promentilla’s lecture, he gave a briefer regarding Research in the Academe.
He enumerated the roles of Higher Education Institutes in (HEIs) in Philippine Innovation Ecosystem.
In his presentation, he stated that “Academic institutions have three main functions and that is to transmit knowledge, act as a public knowledge resource and create new ideas and knowledge.”
“It is very important for us in the academy to train a life-long learning”, he added.
Publication is essential for research productivity. It will be a permanent record of research and a contribution to the scientific community’s body of knowledge.
