USeP co-hosts 2023 Philippine ROTC Games Mindanao Orientation


The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) played a pivotal role as a co-host in the highly anticipated Philippine ROTC Games (PRG) 2023 Mindanao Orientation, organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XI. The event took place on June 9, 2023, at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – Obrero Campus. With the theme “Tibay at Galing Pagyamanin, Palarong ROTC ay Suportahan Natin”, the orientation aimed to bring together participants and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the upcoming Philippine ROTC games. Additionally, it sought to foster the development of new athletes from among the ROTC cadets and cadettes for future international competitions.

Representing USeP President Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. warmly welcomed the participants, emphasizing the University’s commitment to the event. Coach Ana Dulce B. Yango, Project Leader of the Sports Development and Management Programs, played a key role by presenting the Philippine ROTC Games Internal Rules and Guidelines (PRG IRG). She also facilitated a breakout session during the orientation, actively engaging the attendees and promoting interaction.

The afternoon session featured esteemed guest and keynote speaker, Hon. Senator Francis N. Tolentino of the Philippine Senate. In his address, Sen. Tolentino highlighted the importance of the 2023 Philippine ROTC Games in promoting camaraderie, teamwork, self-discipline, and sportsmanship. He emphasized that these values are not only crucial for physical strength but also for building strong character. “Kaya tayo nagkaroon ng isang bansa ay dahil ang pagmamahal sa bayan ay mandatory,’’ (The love for our country is mandatory, and that’s why we have a nation) he proudly stated. The senator was joined by Richard E. Bachmann, Chairperson of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC); Dr. Rody P. Garcia, Director of CHED Regional Office IX; Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, Director of the CHED Regional Office XI; Dr. Nelia A. Alibin, Director of the CHED Regional Office XII, and Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, President of USeP. A press conference with the honorable senator followed the orientation, providing an opportunity for further interaction and exchange of information.

USeP’s co-hosting of the PRG Mindanao Orientation underscored its commitment to promoting sports development and excellence within the ROTC community. The collaboration between USeP and CHED Regional Office XI further amplified the significance of the event, ensuring its success in providing participants with the information they need for the upcoming games. By nurturing strength, fostering camaraderie, and supporting the ROTC Games, USeP continues to contribute to the growth and development of the nation’s future athletes from Mindanao.
