USeP, DOST-MIRDC partner for establishment of MEIC


The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) for the “Establishment of the Metals & Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC) in Regions IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, XI, and CARAGA” during the 2nd National Metals and Engineering Conference (NMEC) held at the Acacia Hotel, Alabang Muntinlupa City.

The MoA is ceremonially signed by the University, represented by Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva, Vice President for RDE, and DOST XI Regional Director Dr. Anthony C. Sales. This project aims to develop strong partnerships with regional academic institutions to promote innovation culture and to strengthen their capacity and capability in the field of metalworking to enhance the competitive advantage of the metals and engineering (M&E) industries.

Also present during the MOA signing was Engr. Amiel B. Marata, FabLab Davao Manager.

Both parties look forward to the establishment of MEIC inside the USeP Obrero Campus to assist its stakeholders including the local industries.
