In a significant step towards advancing sustainable development initiatives, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) and Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS) formalized their collaboration efforts through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on April 2, 2024, at the Office of the President Board Room, USeP Obrero Campus, Davao City.
The signing ceremony marked the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at fostering environmental stewardship and community engagement.
The MoA signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both institutions with University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., representing USeP; and Atty. Mark T. Peñalver, Executive Director of IDIS. Atty. Arlene M. Lorejo-Cosape, Dean of the USeP School of Law; and Mr. Lemuel Lloyd I. Manalo, EnP., IDIS Program Coordinator; served as witnesses.
Also present at the signing were USeP Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Tamara Cher R. Mercado; USeP Vice President for Research, Development and Extension, Dr. Roger C. Montepio; USeP Extension Division Director, Dr. Roby V. Pagong; and Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) Director and USeP SoL Extension Head, Atty. Jesus A. Villardo III.
IDIS is a non-governmental environmental organization advocating for protecting and managing life-sustaining watersheds, from ridge to reef, in South-Central Mindanao.
As both institutions embark on this collaborative journey, they are poised to make significant contributions to environmental conservation, social justice, and inclusive development, ultimately shaping a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
