The USeP Top Management, led by President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., recently paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Councilor Pilar C. Braga, Davao City First District Representative and Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Culture and Arts, on March 27, 2024, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Dabaw.
Joined by the other TM members, viz: Vice President for Administration Dr. Maria Luisa B. Faunillan; Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva; and Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Roger C. Montepio, the visit explored avenues of collaboration between the local government and the University to provide academic opportunities to the youth of Davao City.
The meeting provided an opportunity for discussions centered on the importance of education in fostering growth and development in the region; and the development of potential scholarship programs that could significantly benefit the youth. Through collaboration, both parties aim to leverage resources and expertise to address key issues and contribute to the overall welfare of Davao City.
Councilor Braga expressed her enthusiasm for partnering with the University as she acknowledges USeP’s role in driving innovation and academic excellence in the region. She also said that nurturing talents and providing opportunities for advancement, particularly for the youth, is essential.
Moreover, President Gabales underscored the commitment of the University to community transformation through instruction, research, and extension activities. He also stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in creating sustainable initiatives that would create an impact on society.
Both parties agreed to further explore areas of cooperation and establish working groups to facilitate the implementation of joint projects that can make meaningful contributions to the development of Davao City.
