The USeP Top Management, led by University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., visited the USeP Tagum-Mabini Campus (TMC), Tagum Unit at Apokon, Tagum City on June 5, 2024, to engage in a dialogue with the School of Medicine (SoM) faculty and students. The talk focused on hearing and addressing student concerns.
President Gabales was joined by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva, and TMC Chancellor Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva. Also in attendance were SoM Dean Dr. Victoria P. Guillano and Public Affairs Division Director Dr. Rosfe Corlae D. Badoy.
During the meeting, President Gabales reminded the attendees of how committed the University is to fulfilling its mandate of providing programs of instruction and professional training primarily in the fields of science and technology, especially in the field of medicine as per the University Charter. The Republic Act 11509, also known as the Doktor Para sa Bayan Act, which aims to establish a Medical Scholarship and Return Service (MSRS) program for deserving students in state universities and colleges (SUCs), has translated the University commitment to concrete and tangible plans with the establishment of SoM in 2021.
President Gabales also emphasized to the students the USeP feedback systems in place; and that the University is committed to hearing and addressing grievances and concerns from all its constituents especially the student body which serves as its primary stakeholder.
For their part, the students acknowledged the efforts of the Administration in addressing their concerns. All three year-levels of SoM students were duly represented during the dialogue. Also present were SoM faculty and staff.
