The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) proudly participated in the annual State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Fair, an event initiated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and hosted by the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), alongside Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU) at Zamboanga City on July 9-11, 2024.
The Fair bearing the theme, “Weaving culture and innovations for transformative, resilient, and globally recognized Philippine higher education”, brought together SUCs from various regions across the Philippines to exhibit their distinctive products, pioneering innovations, and the diverse talents and skills of their students and faculty.
This year, the Fair coincides with CHED’s 30th Anniversary and the 4th National Higher Education Day, focusing on exploring strategies for navigating the global landscape through innovations, cultural and arts preservation, and higher education quality.
The SUC Fair 2024 was participated in by SUCs per region. Davao Region was represented by the Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), Davao de Oro State College (DOSC), Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao, and University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP). USeP President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., and Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Roger C. Montepio graced the said event.
A big win for USeP
With the conclusion of the SUC Fair 2024 on July 11, 2024, USeP emerged as champion under the Faculty Category in the Innovation, Variation, Acceleration through Research (InnoVAR): Research Pitching Competition.
Asst. Prof. Keno M. Mendoza, faculty of the College of Technology (CT), represented the University in the said competition with the innovation, ‘ZapPIFY’- an IoT technology in agriculture and an insect pest control method.
The University’s participation in the SUC Fair 2024 demonstrates its steadfast commitment to academic excellence, research breakthroughs, and transformative innovation as USeP seeks to position itself as a leading institution in transforming lives and communities in Mindanao, ASEAN, and beyond.
