The Southeastern Philippines Journal of Research and Development (SPJRD), the official multidisciplinary research journal of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), has continued to propel to the forefront of scholarly publications as the Thai Journal Citation Index Center (TCI) recently announced the journal’s acceptance in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI).
Inclusion in ACI signifies that SPJRD adheres to rigorous quality standards and publishes impactful research relevant to the ASEAN region’s development needs. This reflects the journal’s commitment to excellence and positions it as a key platform for knowledge exchange on an international scale. Furthermore, only two of the 41 accepted journals in the region came from the Philippines, and SPJRD was one of them, representing a state university.
“This feat of SPJRD, from our journey in earning a spot in Scopus to earning an entry in ACI database… this achievement fosters a stronger research environment within the university and paves the way for continued contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the ASEAN region,” expressed SPJRD Editor-in-Chief Sajed S. Ingilan upon acknowledging the inclusion of SPJRD in the mentioned indexing bodies.
“On behalf of our Editorial Board, I’m expressing gratitude to the constant support of the USeP officials, the authors, reviewers, and the entire Advisory Board of SPJRD, who were instrumental in this success,” he added.
In recent years, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP)’s official research journal has consistently contributed novel research works through international publications. Moreover, SPJRD’s rigorous peer-review process ensures the publication of high-quality research.
The indexing of SPJRD in ACI opens the potential for wider readership and visibility, as well as increased citations for its published research, further solidifying the reputation of the USeP journal for excellence.
“With this achievement, USeP reaffirms its dedication to promoting a robust research culture that not only elevates our University but also significantly contributes to the intellectual and developmental progress of the ASEAN region. SPJRD’s inclusion in ACI is a testament to our commitment to academic excellence and regional collaboration,” said University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. The President also thanks the SPJRD Editorial and Advisory Boards for this accomplishment.
ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) is a central regional database designed and set up to index all the bibliographic records and the citations of all quality ASEAN research outputs that appeared in the ASEAN scholarly journals. Some criteria used in the evaluation process by the ACI committee are that the journal’s age must be at least 3 years or at least released 6 issues; citations in national and/or international databases; good diversity of authorship; good diversity in editorial board members; clarity of concepts and policy; uniformity of formats; presence of an updated and comprehensive website; and online submission capability.
With its induction in Scopus indexing, which covers the publications from 2021 to 2024, SPJRD extends beyond and is now officially listed in the ACI database.
