Pres. Gabales welcomes new and returning students to Academic Year 2024-2025

“You are among the privileged few who met the standards and qualifications of the University. Congratulations for being Iskolar ng Bayan,” President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. emphasized to the new and returning students of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) during the General Convocation and Semestral Kick-off on August 19, 2024 at the University Gymnasium and Cultural Center in the Obrero Campus.

Pres. Gabales also congratulated the first-year students or USeP’s “little Agilas” for achieving a significant milestone in their academic journey and ensured the University’s commitment to meeting their expectations of academic excellence. As the new Academic Year begins, he reminded all students to focus on their studies and brace themselves for the trials and challenges ahead, assured that they will have the support of their fellow students, faculty, and staff within the USeP community.

With USeP covered by the Republic Act 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, it institutionalizes free tuition and exemption from other fees for all its undergraduate students. Pres. Gabales reminded the students to be honest with their parents and guardians when asking for financial support. Additionally, he encouraged the students to take pride in being part of an institution recognized for its Mastery in Quality Management, the first SUC in Mindanao to receive the Level III Philippine Quality Award.

Opening the activity was Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva. She explained that the program was designed to keep students informed about recent updates to University policies and guidelines that are of utmost importance to them. VPAA Nueva advised the USePians to never underestimate the power of their ideas and abilities to ignite change and shape their future.

The students were oriented on the following frontline services: Office of Student Affairs and Services, University Assessment and Guidance Center, University Learning Resource Center, Gender and Development Office, University Virtual Environment, Health Services Division, Office of University Registrar, Public Affairs Division, University Data Privacy Office, International Affairs Division, and the Career and Alumni Center.

May this be another semester filled with growth, achievements, and success. Soar high, Agilas!
