USeP welcomes Honorary Consul of Finland to Mindanao


The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) welcomed Hon. Antonio “Tony” S. Peralta, Honorary Consul of Finland to Mindanao, during his visit on February 10, 2025, at the Office of the President (OP) Board Room, USeP Obrero, Davao City. The meeting served as a valuable platform to explore potential collaborations in education, research, and cultural exchange between USeP and Finnish institutions.

During the discussions, USeP President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. engaged with Honorary Consul Peralta, who shared his insights on Davao City’s potential as an emerging hub for investment and innovation. He highlighted Mindanao’s evolving landscape and emphasized that contrary to past perceptions, the region is now a peaceful and highly promising area for development and global partnerships.

Accompanying the USeP President were key members of the University’s Top Management, including Vice President for Administration Dr. Maria Luisa B. Faunillan; Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva; Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance Dr. Tamara Cher R. Mercado; Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Roger C. Montepio; and Tagum-Mabini Campus Chancellor Dr. Shirley S. Villanueva. Also present during the meeting was International Affairs Division Director Dr. Adora P. Zerrudo. The discussion also highlighted USeP’s commitment to academic excellence and its continued efforts to strengthen internationalization.

The USeP Top Management presented the University’s Organizational Profile to showcase the University’s strengths in instruction, research, extension, and production. The meeting also reinforced USeP’s commitment to academic excellence and internationalization, as it continues to strengthen global linkages and pursue innovative partnerships that align with its strategic vision.

Dr. Gabales underscored the crucial role of international collaborations in advancing sustainable development, knowledge exchange, and research-driven solutions. He expressed enthusiasm about strengthening USeP’s ties with Finnish institutions to create educational opportunities and multidisciplinary cooperation that will benefit students, faculty, and the whole academic community.
