USeP Secures Patent for PAYG Solar Home System Innovation

The University of Southeastern Philippines proudly announces the issuance of the Letters Patent for the invention “A System for Using Energy,” a breakthrough pay-as-you-go solar home system (PAYG-SHS) that utilizes alternative wireless communication technologies to deliver reliable, accessible, and smart energy solutions.

Developed by Engr. Filmann T. Simpao, Engr. Renato G. Arancon, Engr. Franch Maverick A. Lorilla, and Mr. Reyman M. Zamora of the College of Engineering, this innovation was made possible through the collaboration between USeP and Learning by Doing Technologies Training Center (LEADTECH), Inc., under the DOST–CRADLE Program.

This patented system integrates multi-layer wireless communication for redundancy and reliability—making solar
energy systems more efficient, accessible, and adaptable, especially for off-grid and underserved communities.

>Aligned with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), this technology advances inclusive access to safe, sustainable, and modern energy.
> Aligned with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), it strengthens technological innovation toward
smarter and resilient energy systems.

USeP continues its commitment to transforming research breakthroughs into impactful, real-world solutions for
national development.
