Charting both progress and direction, University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. delivered the State of the University Address (SOUA) on December 17, 2025, at the University Gymnasium and Cultural Center (UGCC), in line with the 47th Founding Anniversary celebration.
In his second SOUA, Pres. Gabales presented the University’s major milestones, breakthroughs, and strategic priorities that highlighted the collective efforts of students, faculty, non-teaching personnel, and alumni. He provided updates on academic programs, research and extension initiatives, and partnerships with local and international institutions, emphasizing transparency and shared accountability as central to institutional governance.
Reflecting on the past two years of his administration, Pres. Gabales underscored that leadership and progress are products of collaboration. “Leadership is never a solitary path. It is always shared with a community that believes, sacrifices, and works together,” he said, as he looked back on the challenges and victories that shaped the institution’s recent journey.
He further likened the University to interconnected gears, stressing that progress is achieved when all sectors move in harmony. “A single gear, no matter how finely made, cannot move on its own. But when gears are synchronized, they set great things in motion,” the President noted while alluding to the interdependence of academic, administrative, and support units across campuses.
Aligned with the Founding Anniversary theme, SOUA reaffirmed the University’s vision of becoming a premier research university transforming communities in the ASEAN and beyond. Pres. Gabales reiterated the administration’s commitment to the GREAT SERVICE framework, which serves as the guiding blueprint for leadership, decision-making, and service delivery, aligned with the University Strategic Plan, Institutional Development Plan, the CHED-ACHIEVE agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Looking ahead, Dr. Gabales outlined continuing directions focused on strengthening systems, policies, governance, and partnerships, while also embracing innovation and emerging technologies. He called on the University community to sustain unity and shared responsibility in advancing institutional goals and emphasized that collective action remains vital in ensuring long-term impact and public service.
