USeP hosts DOST-TAPI TECHNiCOM Proposal Writeshop

Conducted in collaboration with DOST Region XI and the Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) under the TECHNiCOM (Technology Innovation for Commercialization) Program, the three-day writeshop gathered faculty-researchers, innovators, and technology developers from various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the Davao Region and neighboring regions.

The University proudly acknowledges the inspiring message of support delivered by Dr. Anthony C. Sales, CESO III, Regional Director of DOST Region XI, underscoring the importance of regional collaboration in advancing innovation and technology commercialization. The activity was formally opened by Dr. Roger C. Montepio, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, reaffirming USeP’s steadfast commitment to research translation, industry linkage, and sustained partnerships with DOST and HEIs across the region.

USeP also extends its appreciation to the TECHNiCOM team from DOST-TAPI. Ms. Diane Abigail S. Dimaculangan, Mr. John Seth Z. Arcilla, and Engr. Jayson B. Nuval for facilitating comprehensive and hands-on sessions on full-blown proposal development, work planning and budgeting, documentary compliance, DPMIS submission, and technology pitching. Their expertise equipped participants with practical strategies in preparing competitive proposals for commercialization support.

Notably, the DOST-TAPI TECHNiCOM and DOST Region XI teams paid a courtesy visit to University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales Jr., further strengthening institutional collaboration and reaffirming a shared vision of advancing innovation-driven development in the region.

The activity also highlighted USeP’s vibrant innovation ecosystem, as the USeP-AGILab Technology Business Incubator (TBI) sent its incubates, including student-led startups and university spin-offs to actively participate in the writeshop.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), this initiative reinforces USeP’s role as a leading institution in strengthening research commercialization pathways and fostering inclusive, innovation-driven regional development.
