The Teacher Training Center for Mindanao (TTCM) was established last 1999 as a special project under the Office of the President, University of Southeastern Philippines per BOR Res. 2827 S. 1999 of the USeP Board of Regents. It is part of the Davao Integrated Development Plan Project, a Master Planning Study of Japan International Cooperating Agency (JICA). It was then known as Teacher Training Center for Region XI (TTCR).
It operates as an autonomous body and functions as a project matrix organization drawing expertise from the different colleges of the University. The College of Education is the degree-granting College for courses being offered by the TTCM. Since the granting of the College of Education (CEd) as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education in 2010 by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), the TTCM is managed as a special projects of the CEd.
Since its conception, the TTCM has forged partnership with the Division of Cotabato; Department of Education under the Third Elementary Education Project (TEEP) — a Philippine-World Bank Project; the Bureau of Elementary Education; Department of Education through its various Divisions (Special Education,Staff Development, Curriculum Development); the Summer Institute for Linguistics (SIL) Philippines; the Resources for the Blind, Inc (RBI); the Commission on Higher Education (CHED); the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA); the Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao (BEAM) – a Philippines-Australia Project; and the Perkins School for the Blind, Massachusetts, USA.
