CEd faculty conduct capability seminar on Assessment of Learners with Special Needs


 

Faculty members from the College of Education of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) were invited to facilitate a capability seminar on “Assessment of Learners with Special Needs” on November 3, 2023, at the Jesus and Mary Thevenet School Foundation, Inc. (JMTSI) in Bangkal, Davao City. The participants of the training were teachers and staff of JMTSI led by the School Principal, Mr. Antonio S. Lumactod. The faculty facilitators from USeP College of Education were Dr. Jennifer M. Arbiol, Assoc. Prof. Henry C. Encabo, Dr. Fedelis C. Bonocan, Asst. Prof. Mariche C. Llanto, and Asst. Prof. Angelie V. Cabajes.

The training aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively assess and support learners with special needs. Participants gained insights into the unique characteristics, learning needs, and educational potentials of these students, enabling them to tailor their teaching approaches accordingly. The seminar also delved into practical management strategies to foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for all learners. Additionally, participants were introduced to assessment strategies designed to enhance existing teaching and learning practices in inclusive settings.

This initiative exemplifies USeP’s commitment to providing technical assistance and services to the private sector, particularly in the realm of inclusive education. By empowering educators with specialized knowledge and skills, USeP is actively contributing to the creation of more inclusive learning communities, transforming lives and fostering a brighter future for all learners.
