USeP-CED and Department of Education-XI conduct Regional Writeshop in Developing Program for International Students Assessment (PISA)-Like Test Questions for Teachers

The College of Education (CEd) of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) in collaboration with the Department of Education Region XI (DepEd-XI) conducted a ten-day writeshop in developing Program for International Students Assessment (PISA)-Like test questions for teachers last February 28-March 4, 2022 and March 7-11, 2022 at the Department of Education XI– National Educators Academy of the Philippines (DepEd XI-NEAP) Davao City. The main focus of the activity was geared on addressing the gap on the dismal performance of Filipino students in the PISA, which emphasized more on contextual and authentic problems in Mathematics, Science and Reading.

Highlights of the writeshop comprised of constructing PISA-like questions in the areas of Mathematics, Science, and Reading and providing technical assistance towards developing capability to design knowledge-in-use assessments. Resource persons from USeP-CEd shared core ideas about writing a knowledge-in-use assessment. The participants from various DepEd divisions were tasked to produce at least 30-item-tests for key stages in Mathematics, Science, and Reading which were then reviewed by the USeP Content Experts and Reviewers from the College of Education, College of Arts of Sciences and College of Engineering.
