USeP faculty facilitate training in Instrumentation and Improvisation in Science and Math Instruction

Faculty members from the College of Education (CEd) of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) served as trainers in the recently concluded three-day regional training-workshop on “Instrumentation and Improvisation in Science and Mathematics Teaching and Learning”, held from October 26-28, 2023, at the Pinnacle Hotel in Davao City. This training, organized by the Department of Science and Technology through its Science Education Institute (SEI) in partnership with the Department of Education Region XI (DepEd XI) and USeP, was an activity under the Project S.T.A.R. (Science Teachers Academy for the Regions).

The training participants included teachers, school heads, and supervisors of Math and Science from DepEd XI. Among the training facilitators/trainers from USeP College of Education were Dr. Roar A. Callaman, Dr. Fedelis Bonocan, Assoc. Prof. Yvonne M. Kiel, Assoc. Prof. Geraldine E. Francia, and Assist. Prof. Josephine C. Gepigon. Dr. Eveyth P. Deligero, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), was also tapped as one of the trainers from USeP. On the first day of the event, Ms. Ma. Luisa B. Faunillan, USeP Vice President for Administration, delivered a message to the participants on behalf of Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, USeP President.

This training-workshop provided teachers with the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in instrumentation and improvisation strategies, which can be used to develop students’ essential learning competencies in Science and Mathematics. Additionally, the training provided teachers with the skills and knowledge to design effective teaching and learning materials/resources. This is part of USeP’s commitment to providing quality teacher training and development programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of teachers in the region.
