Stepping up to a wider world of technology, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – College of Technology (CT) in collaboration with the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities of Industrial Technology (PACUIT) Inc. and the Hytec Power Inc. conducts a 3-day National Skills Training in Application of Ladder Programming and Human Machine Interface to Modular Production, Automation Studio, Robotics and Electrical, Electronics & Digital Logic on July 1-3, 2015 at the USeP Social Hall.
The opening program was attended by the respected trainers and speakers namely: Engr. Dino Ramacho (Manager, Mindanao Hytec Power Inc.), Engr. Ross Mel B. Lingon, Engr. Armando B. Tomas (Technical Training and Specialist Manager of Hytec Power Inc., Engr. Leandro A. Castillo (Product Specialist – ECE and CpE of Hytec Power Inc.), Engr. Juvencio A. Villanueva, Jr. and Mr. Sherwin National Skills Training The USeP National Skills Training participants during the Opening Ceremony at the USeP Social Hall. By: Dyna Aireen G. Arcena P. Tabarangao (Robotics Product Specialist of Hytec Power Inc.). The event was participated by over 40 participants from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines. For the words of welcome, Dean Romel V. Gador welcome the participants and gave a brief update about the construction of the five-storey building for the Industrial Electronics and Mechatronics Training Center (IEMTC), which is now on its 3rd phase located parallel to the CT building. He also acknowledged that it was made possible with the vision and support of the USeP Administration led by the University President Dr. Perfecto A. Alibin (SUC President IV) and extended gratitude to CT Associate Dean Prof. Amiel B. Marata and colleague for heeding the call to conduct this training. He ended his speech hoping that participants will enjoy their stay and will able to meet their expectations. After which, Dr. Alibin cited that, “It is indeed true that PACUIT has been involved in strengthening the skills of the faculty.” He mentioned that 2015 is the mark of the beginning of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Economic Integration and it’s about time to upscale the skills of the faculty to respond to the challenges of modern technology, which is an essential concern of all the universities. Still, USeP has a lot to improve to develop the technology in the Region.
The ceremony also exhibits NAO, a Humanoid Robot, that responds to voice commands. The participants were amazed and entertained on its capability to deliver words, dance and interact. The training officially started right after lunch. The trainings in Robotics and Electrical, Electronics & Digital Logic were conducted at the CT Audio Visual Room (AVR) while the Application of Ladder Programming and Human Machine Interface to Modular Production and Automation Studio happened at the Electronics Laboratory Room. Thus, CT has done well its part in organizing the skills training. The College is looking forward for the readiness of the faculty to enhance technology and will soon concentrate on research-based production and technological innovation for it is the only way to compete with the rest of the world.
