The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – College of Information and Computing (CIC) Master in Information Technology (MIT) Batch 2020 enrollees organized and conducted a webinar entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Action” last January 16, 2021, as part of their Special Topics 2 subject requirement. The event, which was broadcasted live via the Zoom platform and Facebook, was participated in by different interested individuals from the Philippines.
The morning session of the event was spearheaded by Ms. Julia Camille Las, Data Science Education Specialist at Eskwelabs. Ms. Las discussed the Customer Segmentation Using Unsupervised Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn. She introduced the data science process by creating a simple machine learning project on customer segmentation.
Mr. Albert Yumol, Data Science Team Lead at Eskwelabs, followed during the afternoon session. Mr. Yumol introduced the concepts of machine learning and artificial intelligence as well as the processes on how to implement both supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms with Scikit-Learn. Jupyter Notebook was used to show and explore open and real data sets from data science competitions.
The speakers of the event were from Eskwelabs, an awardee of the Asian Development Bank as a winning solution for the “Digital Skills for Today’s Workforce” challenge.
The webinar ended with an open forum where the participants were allowed to give feedback towards the event. “It was a bit tiresome event to organize but it was fun and worth it,” an individual from the organizing team said.
