The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) supports the national government in attaining sustainable and genuine peace and development within the community. One of our key initiatives is the digital training series for the Indigenous people in Talaingod, Davao del Norte. The Year one (1) of the Hi Tek na si IP Extension Program was formalized into a Memorandum of Agreement last May 29, 2024, and commenced its ICT training series last July 5, 2024, and every Thursday and Friday thereafter, which was concluded last July 18-19, 2024. The program will run for five (5) years and aims to empower residents in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas and indigenous cultural communities/indigenous peoples through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
As a Center of Development in Information Technology Education, the College of Information and Computing (CIC), along with its faculty members, students, and alumni, shared their expertise by extending knowledge, skills, and attitudes to prepare our youth to become work-ready, world-ready, and future-ready individuals in the field of computing. This initiative emphasizes inclusivity and aims to bridge the digital divide by providing digital literacy to marginalized communities, ensuring they have equal access to the opportunities presented by the digital age.
The unwavering support, dedication, hard work, commitment, and collaborative efforts of the University, CIC, 56th Infantry Battalion, Tatag IP Students Foundation Inc., and other stakeholders contribute to the empowerment of Indigenous youth through Information and Communications Technology training. This collective effort not only enhances digital literacy but also fosters an inclusive environment where every individual has the chance to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
