[RECENTLY CONDUCTED]

The College of Information and Computing (CIC), through the Mindanao Center for Informatics and Intelligent Systems (MCIIS), conducts the IP Summer Camp, themed “Translating Research to Technology Transfer and Commercialization,” held on June 20-21, 2024. This event, primarily attended by Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Library and Information Science students, aimed to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to transform their research into marketable technologies.

The core objective of the camp was to provide an understanding for the students to learn intellectual property (IP) management and commercialization strategies. Hence, they are better prepared to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Engr. Michael Machica, KTTD Deputy Director for Technology Business Incubation Unit, discussed the following topics as the resource speaker of the camp:

  1. Introduction to Intellectual Property
  2. Technology Literature Search
  3. Patent Drafting
  4. Legal Framework and Compliance
  5. Procedure for IP Protection Application
  6. Ethical Considerations in IP

This initiative fostered a deeper understanding of the commercialization process and encouraged a proactive approach to innovation and entrepreneurship.
